While looking for Dark Age Irish troops (from the end of the Roman period) I came across a manufacturer (Donnington) supplying "Norse Irish".

How similar were these to "purebred" Irish? What made them different? I would like to use the figures but don't want any glaring inaccuracies in there.

Norse Irish relates to the time when Viking influences started to affect the native Irish, so some of the Donningtom figures have two-handed axes, which would probably not be appropriate for the immediate post-Roman period. I would think the spear and javelin armed figures would be suitable, though.

As Steve says Norse Irish are really 'vikings in ireland' so several hundred years after the end of the Roman era. They founded Dublin and dominated the area close to it.

A difference is likely to be the use of mail shirts on the higher grade troops, but they'll often be the ones with axes anyway so you can avoid those. Run of the mill troops with spear/javelin and little armour should be reasonable for post Roman.
