We’re looking for an experience Python Programmer or team to port a PC/Mac/Linux game to the iOS and Android platforms. It is a language we have no experience of internally and rather than learn this ourselves we wanted to reach out to our talented community to see if there was anyone with the skills and experience to help on this project. The project uses Open GL.

There are 2 key parts to the development and we’re looking for someone to help on either or both.

• Porting the Python
o Port it so it runs on iOS. This is a low level technical task and needs someone who is very experienced. You’ll need to get the game compiling on iOS, porting the Python interpreter and all its dependencies. These include Cairo, SDL, Numpy, Freetype & Pango.
o As above but porting it to the Android platform. The Android Platform will start from the Linux version so will be substantially less work.

• Adapting the game to a touch screen interface and tablet mechanics. This will involve
o Working with us to implement UI changes to remove right mouse clicks and tooltips and adapt the whole UI to work with touch interface instead of mouse.
o Adding features to support in app purchases.
o Optimizing memory usage and fixing bugs to allow it to run on the tablets.
o Any other changes required to work with tablets.

The project is ready to start now. The PC game is complete. We’d like to complete the project in 3-6 months.

If you are interested and feel you have the right skill set we’d be very interested to hear from you. Please contact christian@slitherine.co.uk with your CV and experience and we’ll consider you for the role.
