hi there newbie successor army commander here . Is there rear support for pikes ( if supported from behind ) I never see the support icon come up in game . Is this just a waste of a unit ? Thanks for the advice

All Heavy Foot get +1 for cohesion tests if they have rear support. It's best to deploy them (the rear support) in every other hex, so there are spaces for routing battle groups.

For reference, rear support is for all troops not just heavy foot. The details can be seen here http://fog-pc-wiki.wikispaces.com/Cohesion+Tests

There is possibly one error in the Wiki (can the experts confirm): I believe that non-skirmish units do not provide rear support if they are fragmented.
