Kuruc Rebellion

Hi All,

I've liked the look of the Kuruc Rebellion for a while, and I'm interested in what people (particularly the likes of Alasdair) think of my list: I know it's general heavy, but there is a reason for that:

So, my theory is that I have the FC and the two 'outflanking hussars' pretty much permanently on outflank. I've built the army with the theory that it can survive until the outflank comes in, and it will be rare that an outflank doesn't arrive at all.

So, the IC is to hold things together until such time as the outflank DOES come in. The Veterans are a pretty hard hitting force and skirmishing hussars aren't exactly Nancy's either. I'm a bit concerned about the size of the hussars, but consider that I want to skirmish with the, and a line of 6 skirmishing hussars is a bit unwieldy. Should I consider Lighthorse for maneuver?

The Haiduks are clearly to take any terrain that is being an obstacle for my mostly mounted army.

Thoughts?

HI

My list, with the reservation is that its not good enough to stand upto the firepower armies in this period though I can normally get a draw at least and occasionally a win, just does not have enough punch. I buy your FC argument but not the need for the GC, am also tempted with my list to get rid of all the haiduks but have the figures so use them

My list is

4 TC's
2 Units of Armoured Hussars
3 Units of Veteran Hussars (Bow sword)
4 units of 3 dragoons
3 units of hussars (bow sword)
2 units of haiduks

It is a real struggle to beat the foot armies with this army and it also struggles against some other mounted armies (Cuirassiers)

but is fun

Hi Alisdair,

Thanks for your comments. Without doing a calculation I can't quite see, but all the mounted are in 4's and all the Hussars Cavalry (except the obvious Cavaliers)?

I'm surprised it struggles against foot. The Haiduks would have blown whole units away I would have thought AND they are swordsmen (not huge but a factor).

What do you see as the problem for taking on foot armies?

I can see why Cuirassiers would be an issue. You can only evade so far before you have to stand and there is nothing in the army that can stand up to them UNLESS you've been lucky with the shooting.

Wasnt this used in the "pre musket" era, or am I confusing it with another similar army you used at Roll call last year?

Hi

all mounted 4's and all cavalry, use the dragoons as Light Horse, problem with foot is that essentially they can push you of the table, earlier ones will cause you problems with Cuirassiers and the later ones with the amount of firepower

as I said still fun

cheers
