Interpenetration Query

Amended rule states
“P. 23 Interpenetrations

In all other cases, bases of the moving battle group that reach the battle group being interpenetrated are moved all the way through and are placed on the far side. Those that did not reach are placed with the front base in contact with the near side. If any do not pass through, the battle group making the interpenetration is DISORDERED until the interpenetration is completed in a subsequent turn. Other battle groups blocking placement of the moving battle group’s bases are shifted as far as necessary in the direction of interpenetration to make room. If this is not possible (due to enemy troops, impassable terrain or the table edge) the move is not allowed. When a partial interpenetration has occurred, no wheel or turn by either battle group is permitted (except a 180 degree turn by skirmishers) until either battle group moves clear of the other using a permitted interpenetration.
However situation last night where LF fleeing from a charge, were in a situation where they would pass through friendly BG of HF however beyond the HF was an area of difficult going, which would normally slow the movement to 4 from 5 MU.

Do the LF complete their interpenetration (,as its not clear in this rule as I read it)? (NB. In the actual situation only part of the LF group would have entered the difficult going, but I guess it makes no difference if it’s part of a BG or all)

Don't forget they can add 2 MUs to the normal distance so we are talking about 6MUs not 4.
If some bases still don't reach the friends within 6 Mus then the LF will only partially go through.

Richard,

to clarify the query
They Flee 5MU putting them into the HF so claim the Extra 2MU, however behing the HF is the Difficult going, do they complete the interpenetration as they will need more than 6MU to do so?

Yeah, I was not specific enough.

They only get the extra 2 Mus if that takes them all the way through. If not, they revert to their normal move, in this case 4 Mus because of the terrain and they will go though if all bases reach the Bg being passed through. If not then they will partially go through if any bases reach the friendly BG.

So the rule should read some thing like

"Light foot pass completely through if there is room beyond and they do not exceed their normal move distance by more than 2 MUs, in the terrain they complete the move in.
