Hi guys,

welcome to the Field of Glory Beta Ladder. This ladder competition is open to all beta testers. Before you play your games you must agree with your opponent that it is going to be a ladder game. Then you play the game normally. Once complete, decide which player is going to report the result to the forum. Only one player shoudl report the results. The second player must then log in to confirm the results. Once the results are confirmed the ladder will update automatically.

Initially the ladder will only reports wins and loses, but we will be adding a ranking calculation later in the process. The ranking calculation will award more points to lower ranked players for beating higher ranked players and less to the high ranked players, as you would expect. The winner will be based on ranking, not wins/loses.

On the launch day in Feb 2008 we will announce the winner of the Beta Ladder and award them their prize.

At the moment the ladder is blank and awaiting the first results to be posted. Who will be the first to post a result!

The ladder is obviously not open to the writing team and members of Slitherine

The ladder itself is still in development so you are also beta testing this! We will do everything possible to ensure all scores are recorded correctly and that it is a fair competition, but Slitherine's decision on all matters is final.

I have a lot of interest in rankings topic. I administer long since the DBM Spanish ranking. I would like to know more about this ladder, if it's possible.

Is the ladder based on the Glicko system?
Will slitherine have intention to administer officials national/international rankings?

This kind of thing is all possible, but for now we're just running a simple beta ladder. Lets se how that goes and we can take it from there

Don't you think that it would be also interesting to fill many other informations in the results ?
It could also be interesting to see which army were played and won or lost to which army !

Yes thats all interesting stuff to add. For now though this is the basic version. We can look at adding features once we're sure its all robust enough

Hi,

Two problems with the ladder today :
- I tried to enter the result of a second game between Pikeaddict and myself in the FOG ladder and the result was "You have reported a match between yourself and pikeaddict.". I lost the first game and won the second, therefore I really want to enter this result .
- I tried to view my matches. The ladder said that my list was empty.
