AI issues

1) The AI doesn't load units onto transports to get them across water - ever. Load up the Norway scenario and play as allies, the AI will spend the PP it earns from conquering southern Norway on buying units in Denmark which it does not then load on to transports to use in Norway, meaning that the AI is easily defeated. I didn't even lose Oslo, which in the old Panzer General version of the Norway campaign I normally would lose, and it would be a big challenge to hold on to a line built at Lillehammer.

2) Connected to the above, the AI buys units in the wrong place - it should buy them at the town nearest to the enemy.

3) Bombers are often un-escorted. Again, in the Norway scenario, I almost never saw bombers receiving fighter escort.

4) Infantry is often not supported by artillery in defence or the artillery is deployed in the front line. You often see artllery bombardments happen after an infantry attack.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game and I certainly think the AI is better than that in Panzer General in most areas (and certainly better than that in PG2 - it knows to move artillery units, for one thing) but after nearly 20 years (yes, PG came out in 1994) I expected more. Most of the challenge in the game seems to come from scripted events (e.g., the epic airbourne counter-attack in the Basra scenario) rather than the AI itself, which is fine, but is likely to hamper re-play.
