Number of elements/bases

I have quite a number of armies built for Big Battle DBA and Giant DBA with most of them having around 40 to 50 bases/elements. Would this size of army give me a good game in FOG? Is this the size the designers envisage?

This is roughly the size of the starter armies in the companion army list books - corresponding to about 600 points. Of course the exact number depends on the quality of the troops and whether they are predominantly mounted or foot.

We envisage new players starting with this size army before expanding to 650 points for "standard" singles games in 25mm and 800 points in 15mm.

At 800 points I would say most armies will be in the 70 bases range (Romans, Medieval German or French) with poorer quality ones around 100 (Early German).

An 800 point army, also one which has relatively cheap troops, so is larger than average. We recommend starting with 600 for the first few games.

You are'nt kidding! My original "guess" for troops was low, so the LGS just got a bump in my order!!

But heck who doesn't want a horde of Carthagins!!!!

Thank you for the responses gentlemen. Since I model 15mm figures on 25mm bases, and since my warband bases contain 7 or 8 figures,I don't think I'll be building a German army anytime soon! However my current armies will work just fine. Thanks again.
