Pooling Data

Brett has made some really helpful data available about number of commands and type of commanders available. His is perhaps one of the more active "tournament" scenes for FOGN. I think it would be great to pool more data.

I think these are some of my areas conclusions.
With the caveat that people are playing their favorite armies and mostly at 900 points
The group in my area often feels a skilled commander is helpful often two a Corps and Divisional.
We think Flank marches are a serious option over 25% of the time.
Off board reserve divisions almost that much.
The free defender hill is no big thing.
Take roads.
We favor combined arms and generally need a sufficient ability to repulse a mounted wing.
Armies that are the defender need to have a plan to seize victory as it is harder to win when defender.
Attachments buy all you can.

I know there are more but just trying to pool aggregate data not personal preference.

Our games tend to be done at 900 points. Doing a demo game at a local convention with 900 point armies but not strictly by the lists in the books, as the armies are based on what is finished painted over actual list minimums.

I always go Skilled for Corps and occasionally have tried it with a Divisional as well, but find the Divisional is not as necessary.
Blathergut likes to run at least one as a divisional commander to get his arty prolongs in.

Neither of us have tried this but I have considered it once
Off board reserve divisions almost that much.
As defender I have done this twice, massive army and the reserves gave me more deploy room.
The free defender hill is no big thing.
I agree
Take roads.
After our last two games with almost no terrain I am looking at clogging the table again to slow the Froggies down. Roads are not as big a deal as the buildings are in my opinion, although if the French keep throwing down rivers they do come in handy for fords or bridges.

French cavalry has become a real problem, trying to keep my own cavalry from getting charged is the other issue

Fully agree although I have not had a whole lot of luck attacking either some times

Yes max out your attachments. I recently discovered how handy cav attachment to Jaegers and Grenzers can be
