Battle Notes

Hello everyone,
Has anyone played the older versions of Sim City? There was a feature (it may still exist not sure) that allowed you to post notes in the form of signs throughout the territory. It was a useful tool that allowed you to plan ahead and not build something on a site you may want to use in the future. The reason I bring it up is because I think it would be an awesome addition to the game. Because I love playing this game so much, I tend to have 8 or so games going at any given time. Some players play quick and others more slow. I find that I forget the strategy I wanted to implement by the time my slower opponents finally decides to play. Other uses could be for triangulating arty. Its pretty easy for me to do when playing daily with someone but if they tend to play once a week then there is a good chance I forgot the previous shelling locations because I probably played 30+ turns since then. Im sure there could be many other uses as well.
Just a thought...

You mean like posting stickies to remind a player "Tiger hiding here" or "Enemy scout position" which are easily forgotten when playing multiple MP games...? That's such a great idea!
It's easy to add labels to maps, and a clever modder could do it (the trick might be the interface where you write the short text you want to show, I suspect). The only other issue might be that map labels are usually visible to both sides, I believe.
But, if the Slith lads can do it, yes please.

It's a nice idea. More likely to make it in to BA2 than the current release (given our task list!) but a great idea nonetheless.
Cheers

Sounds like BA2 is really on your mind today Pip... On text and labels... If there's one thing that would be really nice in BA2, please add a text editor that allows us to move the cursor with a mouse, rather than having to backspace/delete all of our text, to edit messages...

Yes GL88! Exactly. You could also use it to keep track of air or arty strikes so you know about when to expect the next round. You could keep track of how many units you have scouted in an area so you know who's left after the attack starts. I often run in to the scenario where I meant to move other units to support a position but 30 turns later I have forgotten, moved them someplace else and now I'm vulnerable.
Regarding text as it seems to be difficult to implement. What about translucent symbols? Utilizing the existing tank, arty, etc... images. I'm on an iPad so I invision something like app program icons. Hold your finger down and the image shakes, x appears and you can then delete the added icons on the map if necessary.
Thanks Pip. Hopefully the Slith team can find the time. Your team does an awesome job! My wife hates you (sincerest form of flattery, trust me).

Andrew had a great idea for implementing it - you would place down 'map pins' and then you could bring up the entered text by tapping on them/mousing over. Prevents the map getting too cluttered, and gives us UI to allow for deletion etc.

Sounds perfect. Can Andrew do this for MP, so that the pins are only visible to one player?

Would quickly become obligatory to use for complex maps... I would so use this for Caen or Ortona... Thanks guys!
