A lot of these seem to be modelled the same as late Roman"Draco" banners, at least in 15mm.

Does anyone know if that is accurate?

To answer my own question it seems:

Romano-British: Probably, because the Romans used them.

Early Saxons: No one knows.

Later Saxons: Probably - Draco style banners are depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry.

I've always believed that the Romans picked up use of the Draco from the various Germanics of multiple tribes/nations who were incorporated into the Roman army in fairly large numbers over an extended period of time. So it would be very plausible for Saxons to have been using them from the early days.

If there is no evidence either way, go with whatever you think looks best!

For me I think cloth banners work best for the Germanics, otherwise if your fighting in period all the different forces end up with exactly the same accessories (I am painting up some Rom Brits and Saxons simultaneously). Its a bit of a pain, though, chopping all the dragons off and replacing them with my poorly executed tin foil banners.
