It doesn't make any sense to me that you can't build flame tanks, so I changed it so that you could.

I like that a lot of the game is exposed in the xml files and modifiable.

What 3d editor reads your mesh format? It looks like it's pretty simple, but blender can't open it by default.

We have our own format

That would explain it. I tried treating it like an Ogre XML file but it didn't work... I assume you do your modelling in a commercial editor though? Which means you must have a conversion tool to get it into your custom format. Any chance of releasing it? Good modding access would definitely be a big plus for the game.

I'd like to see the ability to make flame tanks a permanent option. Of course I love to be able to fry things. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It's the smell of victory!"

I see no reason why not. It's for 3ds Max, but we have a new version in progress, so I'm not sure which one currently works. If you'd like to do something with it, I'm sure Soheil could attach it for you.

To be honest, I probably won't do to much with it right now. I was messing around with the xml files and wanted to see how much I could do. Figured it would be fun to try and cook up some of my own terrain features. I'm a pretty lousy modeler though, so it would probably end up being a kind of dead end project. I think it would be worth it to release your development tools to the community at some point though. Community modding is a great way to get more out of game.

There are balancing issues and stuff that need to be ironed out and the programmers have a lot to do at this stage trying to keep up with all the great feedback we are getting from you guys and i dont want to add even more stuff to their workload. This doesnt mean we wont add it though i just cant give a definitive answer right now but ill put it pretty high on the "like to have" list. Personally i think its a awesome idea and it would be really fun making badass flamethrower turrets for my tanks and maybe even for mechs cuz a giant robot that shoots flames sounds really cool!
