Can Commander – Europe at War only be bought be digital download? I've looked in shops but found nothing.

Yes at the moment is only availble as a download in the UK.

IS that likely to change?

Does anyone know if I bought the US version would it work on a UK pc?

I'm not opposed to downloading but I've just switched to a laptop and I'm not keen on leaving it on for the length of time the download would take. (I'm concered about over-heating)

If you live in the UK you might consider buying from the Slitherine site rather than from Matrix. I bought from Matrix which means I cannot take part in any official testing as this is only possible with the Slitherine version. Also there might be more problems with palying the game under vista if you have the Matrix version?

The US version would work on any PC. The download is around 90MB so should not take too long on a decent connection.

I have vista on my laptop which I use for games but laptop not set up for internet yet.

Yes, though you can buy disks from matrix games in the US and they will ship to the UK and this should solve your problem. There have been some issues with the Matrix installer on Vista though.

Another alternative is to download the Slitherine version to a machine on the internet and copy the installer over on CD or via a RAM stick. We'd need to get you activated on the PC that did not have Internet but it's possible. We have no known issues with the Slitherine installer on Vista.

Thanks for the help my machine that is hooked up to the internet has the following spec:
windows xp home edition

BIOS PHOENIX-AWARD BIOS V6.00PG
MEMORY:256 MB ram
Pagefile: 418 mb used 200mb available
directx version:directx 9.0b

Would I be able to load it onto this system then transfer to my laptop ?

just bought the game from yourselves it seemed to have loaded onto my wifes laptop i now want to transfer it to my laptop.
Seemed to load ok but when it asks for high or low whichever i press if briefly shows slitherine logo then nothng ........help

Looks ok now ...................phew now to try and copy it to the other laptop.

To copy it over you need to copy the installer and then install it on the new machine. Bear in mind you've purchased a one user license to the game. If you want to run multiple copies you need to buy multiple copies.

I read on this forum that it was up to 3 pc/laptops have things changed ?
If that is so I now have the game on the wrong computer and I did explain my situation before buying the game.

Yes but it is still a single user license. You are not supposed to be using more than 1 installation at a time. For convenience it allows 3 installs in case you replace your PC or need to reinstall or want to take it with you on your laptop and have it on your home PC.

I only want to play the game on my laptop only my wife and I live in our house my wife will not be interested.

I have been having a few problems I will start at the beginning.
I bought the game Commander-europe at war see below:

I explained on the forum that I had three computers I thought.
1. A p.c. that didn`t have the ram to use the game (but was on the internet)
2.My wife`s laptop that did have the ram and was on the internet
3.My own lap top that did have the ram but wasn`t connected to the internet.

I asked could I download the game onto my wife`s laptop and then load to discs and transfer to my laptop which would solve the problem.I was told that this was one way to solve the problem.

I then bought the game loaded it onto my wife`s laptop but could not transfer the game to my own laptop.

The next step was to sort out by router problem and get my own laptop onto the internet this I have done.
I then tried to download the game from my email from slitherine and now
I have an error message saying the key has been activated on the maximum number of computers.

I read on the forum that some had the game on 3 of their computers.
I am happy to have it deleted from my wife`s laptop as she will not be interested but now I am stuck !

You'll need to email info@slitherine.co.uk with your order details & a hardware fingerprint. The fingerprint is what appears on the pop up asking you for your serial number - it's an 8 digit alpha numeric value e.g. HTTR-6GT8. It's fiddly and we're looking at alternative ways to handle the copy protection so sorry for any inconvenience.

I`m sorry but computers are a nightmare to me (it must be my age)
I will delete/uninstall game from my wife`s laptop when things are sort out.
