Deploying paras in the vanilla US East scenario put them in naval transports instead of the air. Am I correct in assuming that's a scenario special rule, or did I just miss the "in the air, please" button? It was at about 2 am, so user stupidity cannot be ruled out here

You can't drop Fallschirmjaeger in this scenario, because no air transports are allowed, see scenario parameters in the editor. Knowing this, you can simply change this though !
