If you have a 16 base early tercio deployed in the standard footprint. When shot at from the front. How many bases (first three ranks) does it count.

A: 4 shot and 6 pike (4 files wide) = 10 bases?
Or b: assuming the shot are assumed to count a file of four ranks block in spite of the staggered layout. 6 shot and 6 pike (4 files wide) = 12 bases?

If shot from the "side"... Again same question.

Don't have rulebook with me, but I think it's in Appendix 3 Glossary. The answer is b, 12. It doesn't change if shot at in flank.

That can't be true!

The Swedish brigade has been totally hamstrung by the new errata. They're now useless and might as well be 'poor/unprotected/no shooting/no impact/no melee'.

The substantive changes in this version that affect Swedes:

Swedish Brigades do not count armoured to shooting. They still have 7 bases, can have 3 deep pike with no penalty and lose 2 pike before any shot.

Not just affecting the Swedes, but relevant, Commanded Shot cannot charge or intercept.

Opinion is currently divided as to whether these changes make the Swedes totally useless or just prevent some of the unhistorical tactics that people were using.
