What would you call it?

I'll take your responses and a poll will follow.

Are you talking about a user made campaign or a possible Panzer Corps Pacific campaign? :)

I would call the latter just "Pacific War: Marine Corps".

An official name for this conflict from the Japanese is "Greater East Asia War". But that sounds dull. "Imperial Japanese Campaign" sounds better.

I'd go for Empire of the Sun. Any official campaign about the war with Japan should include the entire Asian theater, not just the pacific theater. American-centric way in which WW2 has been portrayed in this country annoys me.

dumbtt, I agree with you, Empire of the Sun has a classic ring, and we need to see more than just the American side.

I would assume (hope) that this game would be following the Japanese Empire and not the American.

I would also assume that would continue the same product line with making the title close to Panzer Corps.

Panzers being the most recognized WWII unit for Germany.

Zeroes being the most recognizable for Japan.

I submit:

Zero Corps

Zero Corps? If you want to name it for a 'typical' unit type, why not 'Kamikaze Corps' ...

Kamikazes were not typical, and just a tragic example of what unworthy leaders do with their people's loyalty. I still believe that the German and Japanese military of WW2 were probably the most effective and loyal fighting forces the world has seen, and it is extremely tragic that such bad leaders had control of these men and just threw their lives away for their idiotic goals without any regard for their lives or their sacrifices.

So I think there are better ways to remember the campaigns of Japan than by that name.

I don't think it is a good name either, don't worry. I was just trying to make a silly joke; hence the smiley I put behind it.

Yeah sorry, been a soldier myself for several years. I'm a bit more emotional regarding that topic than other people probably :)

Sword and Chrysanthemum. Yeah, I know there's already zounds of books out with a similar name, but it still fits.

As an alternative, i'd go with Tennou Heika (Long live the emperor).

(sorry for the shameless plug ;))

I think Pacific Corps has a good ring to it, and keeps the current title theme as well as the classic General games.

I agree we need to look beyond the US involvement in this theatre. One of the best parts of the Pacific General campaign was that is started with the invasion of China.

This is an excellent idea.

I do hope they will consider this, as it was an interesting theatre of war.

They shouldn't forget to include the Chinese either.

In my book WW2 didn't start in 1939 anyway. It started in 1936. So many conflicts that were already part of the final conflict happened, Spain, the invasion of China, italy vs GB in east africa... So yeah, if the Pacific war should be handled then in should start in 1936, not 1941, I mean the war of Japan lasted nearly 10 years. 1936 to 1945. It would be a shame to just look at 4 out of those 10 just because the US were involved in the last 4...

Valid points.

I think it would make for a good series of campaign games.

If you are true to the model... Pacific Corps.

If you want some flare... Empire of the Rising Sun.
