It has been on the worlds website for ages now.

Not much detail though. The German Open is kind of a trial run - there are 40 of us going to that, including 15 furriners (i.e. in this case, non Germans).

Martin Wirt was kindly waiting for the Worlds 2013 in Australia (last weekend) to be out of the way before making a song and dance about next year. So here it is ta daa...

So start saving and planning now for mid August 2014 and a nice bottle of Reisling....

Be aware that the annual International Teams Challenge 2014 is also currently being planned for Rome (moving from the very successful Lisbon after many years) probably for early September. Hopefully many more European teams will be formed to participate. Of course they can also attend the ITC in Lisbon (a beautiful, historic city) this year in September.

So it's going to be a big Summer of FoG in Europe in 2014!

Well it's all good so far. The flights were around £80 to Cologne. We are going to hire a car (probably around the same cost split between how many of you there are) and drive the hour or so to the venue. We are staying in a picturesque village in a hotel at a very reasonable rate (I think around 40 Euros per night). Obviously flights might be more expensive in August.

The only bad news is that it has been confirmed that at least two players will be in Lederhosen ;)

Others will say it shouldn't have been invented when they see those photos.

We're looking into running Britcon the week before these dates, so overseas players from the far flung colonies can do 2 big European competitions in one trip ...

Great, I appreciate that. I'm already planning to do the Trifecta (Britcon in Manchester, Worlds in Koblenz and ITC in Rome) as these 3 events are likely to fall into about a one month/6 week timeframe.

I'm currently expecting 5 Kiwis to attend Britcon/Worlds 2014 and we'll probably gets some Aussies too.

Quite. The phrase "shrinking violet" fits me like a glove.
