bRC5 quick report

Hello guys,

We haven't forgot you, we just pushed back the release date for bRC5 towards the end of this week, as we're just working hard to completely switch the MP to the PBEM2 protocol, which should allow a better MP experience and support for a lot of new features (like the possibility to have proper names for the DAG games depending on the participating books/army lists, or the support for the multi-users per team).

Cheers,
dan

No, just a problem with the PBEM_test server sharing the same client version with the one from PBEM2_test. I've reverted it back from 703 (current development revision) to 683 (bRC4) until the new bRC5 would be available.

we're working on the PBEM2 protocol, and would put up bRC5 as soon as the work on PBEM2 protocol would be finished. If everything goes well with the implementation and with the testing of the code, we should have it during the next weekend.

In the mean time, I'm constantly the [NFO] Version History thread, so that you guys can always have a track of the development's current situation. You can always check it for the latest news regarding what we are working on in the current builds, and which is the latest current in development version. I've also updated some beta threads with bugs/feedback which were addressed in the various revisions from after the latest public one (which was bRC4) until now.

Hello guys,

A quick update: we haven't succeeded to finish yet with the PBEM2 code, so no bRC5 yet. I've updated the [NFO] Version History thread, so you can have a look over there to see what was going on these days.

On short: lots of PBEM++ cleaning up and new PBEM2 code added, improved gameflow (sides -> nations -> player) - still WIP, order cohesion (composed from the worst terrain and special BGs proximity cohesion), and custom troop type MP costs (ie the code allows now different troop types having different movement costs over different terrain types, overriding terrain type's default movement costs) and of course, bugs fixing.

Hello guys,

Yes, I know, and I a am apologizing for this, it was mostly due to me.

I'll update the Version History thread today (we're currently at revision 733). PBEM2 API is in, and working. It needs a few more tests though. bRC5 will follow shortly. I know it should have been due for a few weeks by now, but it kept dragging with PBEM2 and I kept stuffing all sort of things in it.

And we've been also working on something else (can't say to you yet on what, only that it is FoG(U) related).

Cheers,
dan
