Fun you can have modding the 'theater' param

Testing things a bit. One thing I tried was to use the "theater" switch in the editor for something completely different:

Unless modders need the "normal" Africa background, units etc. they could modify the theater setting via editor so that "Africa" represents something else, like here a winter setting. By using this for a European campaign units could automatically switch to winter camo in any scenario using the African theatre, and switch back to normal looks in Europe provided they sit in the mods units/desert subfolder. Maybe there are other possibilities I haven't thought of yet.

There are some cons though:

- extra work to get units in winter camo (though DCS is a huge help)
- needs fitting wheather settings, in my test I had set frozen ground for the whole scn
- probably usueful for GME mods only due to the extra gfx needed
- whenever the theater is set to Africa, the game plays AK music in those scns (which I like though)

edit: the pic above was made using Massi's terrain gfx :)

Great unit SU-1-12, but the gun should be turned 180 degrees, it will not shoot through the cab.

It's made intentionally that way ;)

You're right of course that firing position was different in reality, but as things work in PzC I think having the gun pointing forward is the best choice. It's going a little bit upwards, so we can assume it shoots over the cab...risky life for the driver still ...;)

If I have the gun pointing backwards it would shoot away from the enemy (so it cannot even use PzC's normal firing anims then). Or I turn the whole vehicle around, then the gun would point towards the opponent, but the vehicle would look like driving backwards all the time when moving...both would look strange IMO.

Yes, on the movement I was not thinking. Of course if you have not turned on the reverse. :D
I guess you're right.

Can the theater switch use values other than 0 and 1?

(You see where i'm going with this, don't you? )

I didn't test that so far, but would be certainly something to explore further :)
