Who is this other "Imposter" claiming to be "The Don"? - there can only ever be one "The Don" and it is I!

This imposter should only be known as "The Don Too"! :D

Don
aka. The real "The Don"!

p.s. great reports as usual Tim - and only 10 days too!!

I'll look forward to your Usk reports next weekend!

He's the Man with a paintbrush by the look of those Ottomans. I bought some Mikes Models Otomans from the model shop in Brighton at what must have been the start of the 1980's. They were on first generation hobby horses but new mounts were in the offing that looked rather Peter Piggish. Those in the battle report look much nicer.
My Turks were gloss varnished but I haven't had the courage since, although they look far better on the table than my later black-undercoat and matt varnish efforts. I know people aren't really shiney - though Peter Gilder had a line about a matt finish ill representing a living object: perhaps it's that living things move and somehow the contingent highlights of the gloss surface convey that - or perhaps I just lke bright shiney objects.
In any event, those Ottomans are ace.

I dunno. That kettle drummer looks rather bored by the whole thing. His expression is as if to say: "*Yawn*, not ANOTHER knightly charge! If I see ONE more knightly charge off my left hand I think I'll kill myself"

Thanks very much for the kind comment about my Turks, I to have had some them a fair while. You can still get them from Essex if you need any extras.

Don, I'll leave it Tim to decide and who is who, as I think the phrase was started by him

In the words of the immortal HH: there's only one way to settle this - "FIGHT!"

Can't wait to see the grudge match - THE Don vs a Don.

I think you've won the "Who is the real Dave Allen" contest, though, Dave.

Should someone set up a tournament exclusively for all the Dons? The winner can then be "The Don" for a year until the next tournament :)

Eager war gamer: "Where did you get those cunning measuring sticks?"

Old fart: "From Dave Allen. He is here if you are interested. He may have some he could sell you."

Eager war gamer: "Oh. Where is he?"

Old fart: "Over there. The one who looks like a wizard."

Eager war gamer: "ah yes, I see. I hope he does not turn me into a frog."

Old fart: "Actually, I think he is planning to use an army of the frog-men of Chunga-Chunga next tournament. Best take care. he might be short a few figures."

How ridiculous.

Dave Allen only uses Airfix frogmen figures, and then only in his Ancients armies...

This is both a calumny and a gross exaggeration. Nobody really knows what the Tupi looked like, but webbed feet were a common mutation in pre-Columbian America and the large cylinders were in fact quivers, not air tanks! :?

Anyone interested in fighting the real thing should come to Clevedon on 24 March...

Regards

A Dave Allen,
The Dave M Allen

PS Wizard??! I look nothing like Roy Wood.

Nor does Roy Wood.

(For those attending Burton, he can be seen frequently in the Bull's Head at Repton)

Is he quite a defensive player then? As in, "You shall not pass!"

No, he is more like Saruman. He uses hordes of crap troops.
