I cannot advance to this scenario in any fashion I can devise. If I finish Bastogne assault with either a DV or MV, I get the same victory screen with a choice. Either choice I make sends me to the Liege scenario, including the "fall back" option. This is beta 2.

Kamerer, I can advance to Nordwind without trouble? I just tested getting a DV or a MV on Bastogne Assault, the choices I get give the correct follow-up scenario, are you absolutely sure you are running beta2? I always deinstall the old beta first, and only then install the new beta to be sure. So, if it works for me, it should work for you as well.

Thanks for the help. I de-installed and re-installed and it appears to be working now. The saved game lets me take that path (I feared it might not), so at least those hours weren't wasted!

8. Nordwind – beta 2

Level: Field Marshal, stock/game corps
Prestige - Begin: 1,500. End: 2,900. Net: +1,400
Result: DV 17/17

Core Changes: None.

Problems:

• • V-weapons being disbanded for prestige? Or not a problem.

General impressions/comments:

• • It took a bit of push at the end to get done in 17. I used a fairly head-on approach with no attempt to cross in the south and possibly flank them. That might have sped it up a little and made it a little less costly.
  • When I was deploying I was not going to be able to over strength all my units. I had to spend lavishly earlier to re-equip and buy experience for this stock corps. I retained five V-weapons from Bastogne for future use. So I looked at the stats and disbanded a V1 for 3,500 and spent about ½ that on over-strength. Don’t know if that’s a desirable attribute for their use?

Nordwind, beta2

Colonel, Imported Core, DV 13/17

Prestige before/after deployment: 8123/5044
Prestige on last turn/incl. victory bonus: 6632/10132

Took all flags, destroyed all Allied units.

On turn 7 my Eastern flank was across the river at Rheinau (18,28), after arriving there on turn 5.
After a rather timid air war, an Allied air wave arrived on turn 8, but because of snow on turn 9 I couldn't use aircraft, so this air wave survived longer than normal. I managed to take Haguenau (13,20) on turn 10.

I had sent a small but strong group along the West flank but they got held up fairly long at Drulingen (2,18), so they were of no help when attacking Strasbourg. So if I hadn't crossed the river with the Eastern force victory would have taken me at least 2-3 turns longer, depending on the weather.

A minor observation: I don't think the Free French should have the M3 'General Lee' tank, they used (at that time) M5 Stuart, M4 Sherman and the M10 GMC as tanks I believe. But it does make them visually more distinct on the map.

I agree. I noticed the anachronistic Lee tanks, too, and thought it weird. Forgot to mention it so I am glad he did!

Beta2 - Colonel level - Imported core - DV at turn 15.

This was easier like the first scenarios but I like it. There should be some faster and easier to solve scenarios like Nordwind. No problems to win so nothing more to mention.

Just a litte map-question: is Kehl forgoten? This german city is located opposite Strasbourg on the other Rhine-Side, perhaps hex (17, 31) and (18, 32).
