Questions about mixed units

this has probably been asked, and may be in the rules, but we did not see it.
Question 1
Assyrian unit that is 1/2 Medium infantry and 1/2 Light Infantry takes a casualty in missle fire,
3 hits, and rolls a 1 on the die. Who dies? Medium or Light infantry? I would assume the type
that got shot at, but didn't read see it in the rules, and if both got shot is it my choice who dies?
Also if a mixed unit takes a hand to hand
casualty, the loss comes from the type troop in combat, correct? i.e, I could not lose a rear
rank light archer unless the archers were in hand to hand combat, correct?
Question 2
Assyrian units with 4 Heavy Infantry and 2 Light Infantry in the 3rd rank charges two seperate units.
The archers get 1/2 the ranks fire support in the impact, so does the fire has no effect?
Question 3
No POA for shooting in the rear of a unit? Did not see one listed.
Played NKE vs Assryrians, 700n pts, had a very good fight. Both sides lost 3 units routed and 2 fragmented out of
10 units. We played about 4 hours. The interaction of the Light infantry vs the Light chariots of both sides was
a game of cat and mouse, very fun.
Thanks
Joey

They answered that elsewhere for me. Correct no POA for back shooting. The assumption is the unsecure flank cohesion test is sufficent penalty and they didn't want to double penalty it.

Joey:
There is a page in the rules laying out which bases to remove (can't recall the number of the top of my head). But, basically, you were correct in assuming that you must remove a base that was shot at or a base that was in close combat.
Can I get an amen from the gallery?

BASE REMOVAL
Bases removed as a result of failed death rolls or pursuits obey the following priorities for removal:
Shooting: Nearest base to shooters.
Close combat: Any front rank base facing the enemy battle group which inflicted most hits on the battle group.
Routing: Furthest base from pursuers. (This is to prevent base removal from causing pursuers to lose contact).
If bases are of equal priority, the battle group’s owner chooses which to remove.
If a battle group is in close combat with two or more enemy battle groups, do not remove a base that would leave any of the enemy battle groups (except those fighting only as an overlap) without a base to face (unless you run out of bases).
If the base that should be removed has been displaced by a commander fighting in the front rank, remove the displaced base instead of the commander.
Other bases of the battle group immediately shuffle up to retain contiguity and fill vacated front rank positions. All vacated front rank close combat fighting positions (except overlaps) must be filled if the battle group has any bases available to do so. Non-front rank bases must be used if any are available, and can be from any part of the battle group. If not, front rank bases that are not in close combat or are only in close combat as an overlap must be used. If there are no such bases available, and there is a gap in the front rank, front rank bases in close combat must be shifted sideways to fill the gap. The player owning the battle group chooses which direction to shift, but if possible, it must leave at least one base in contact with each opposing enemy battle group (except those fighting only as an overlap).
The rule is clear that the element nearest the shooters must be removed. It doesn't what happens if both the LF and MF are shot at but to be honest that is a very obscure situation and as per the other spirit of the rules post I think that including a rule here will likely add confusion as people will think that it is easy to target the rear rank of a mixed formation which it isn't.
