Just had another go as the CP. With Russia out I'm pounding away along the Italian and French fronts. The Italian front collapsed first. I cut off the north from the south and drove on Rome. As I advanced in France, I move my aircraft forward and spot not one, not two, but three Italian artillery defending France while their home country is being overrun.

Yes, I had this happen in one of my games too. I am not sure how they can program it, but the bulk of the Italian forces need to fight in Italy at first. Once the threat to Italy has been dealt with (i.e. the Central Powers have been pushed back) then the Italian troops should start roaming a bit wider.

Similarly I noticed Austro-Hungarian troops operating in Flanders very early on in the war at a time when the Serbians still were very secure. That seemed wrong to me as well.

Finally, playing as the CP's I managed to first take Paris, then got all the way down to Marseilles - but the French troops at Verdun and the surrounding area carried on trying to push into Germany. I eventually surrounded and destroyed them. There was no sense that the AI understood the need to fall back and defend Marseilles after Paris had fallen. So that was a bit odd too.
