REVISED TOURNAMENT STATEMENT
A. Philosophy:
1. outcome should not be decided by troops mismatches and/or terrain and/or vast differences in numbers, therefore
a. armies must be similar in composition, and belonging to about the same period (for historical flavour). see B1, B2, B3.
b. terrain must be uniform. see B4.
(since armies are similar and terrain not advantageous to any side, victory should be decided by pure tactics, luck or no luck)
B. Rules:
1. players choose from the following list from Eternal Empire, a 500 pts cavalry army:
Timurids, Golden Horde (later) 1340-1500, Later Russians 1380-1469, Later Ottoman (early) 1362-1479, Later Lithuanians 1382-1500, Later Polish (early) 1300-1444, Mamluk Egyptian 1300-1399 (from Swords and Scimitars).
2. Players can choose the same armies.
3. shock cavalry + foot = 10 maximum. Clarification: shock cavalry are lancers and do not include light horse lancers (serbians) or light spear horsemen (lithuanians, albanians).
4. both players must choose 'very open' terrain when setting up games.
5. each player will challenge every other players.
6. a mirror game will be played, either concurrently or subsequently, in which players switch armies.
7. players are free to change the composition of any army they play before each new game.
8. since this is designed to be a learning experience and a friendly joust, scores will not be tallied. players will post results and are encouraged to discuss battles from a tactical and historical perspective.
