Commanders leaving units after combat V2

8-16 says a commander must remain with a unit he has joined to fight with in the front rank "until no longer in close combat and no longer in contact with enemy routers".

13-1 says close combat continues "until one side breaks off, breaks and routs or is destroyed"

However, what is the situation when the unit the commander is fighting with routs? Based on the above, it would appear he is not compelled to rout with them. He can't move separately during the rout phase but there doesn't seem to be anything stopping him from staying where he is and if contacted by enemy pursuers, then moving to a "safe" unit in range.

Is 8-16 supposed to read "until no longer in contact with enemy routers OR PURSUERS"?

Don't know about v2 yet, but in v1 on p101 it explicitly says that a commander with the BG (and note it doesn't have to be in the front rank) at the moment it breaks must rout with it once and cannot move away until the JAP. There is another chance to kill the commander if pursuers stay in contact in the initial rout, but nothing to compel the commander to stay with the routers after that point, even if pursuers continue to remain in contact.

Thanks. I've checked and yes the same rule still exists in V2.
