Later Louis XIV

Hi all,

I've just been toying with the various list options in the Louis XIV (Duty and Glory pp66-74).

The notes say (4th & 5th Bullet on p71)
*If Catalan miquelets are used, no guard battle groups can be fielded and the army counts as "In Spain".
*The minimum marked * is reduced to 4 in Spain.

Ok, so lets say I take an army 'In Spain' but don't use any miquelets (they aren't compulsory), by my reading it should be ok to take Guards.

I'm not trying to be cheesy. My first reading was 'no guards' but that's not what it says. It says (effectively) if you're using miquelets you MUST be 'In Spain' and the guards were never used where miquelets were used... that's not to say that the guards were never 'in Spain' where miquelets were not.

Is this a glitch or is it ok to have guards 'In Spain'?

No, I think your reading is correct. An army "In Spain" has a reduced minimum for Line cavlary, but no other restrictions unless Miquelets are used.
