Can't connect to each other using TCP/IP

Hi. I'm trying to play the game via TCP/IP, but I never see the circle start spinning. I click the Host button and the other guy types my external IP address and clicks Join. Nothing happens. He tried to host and I typed his external IP address and nothing happens either. We even tried to use Hamachi and managed to connect to each other with Hamachi, but we can't connect in the game using the Hamachi IP addresses either.

I run a Windows Vista PC with a Dlink router. He runs a Windows XP PC with a router as well.

We both have a firewall. I run Vcom firewall instead of the standard Windows firewall. He has a firewall in his router. I tried to add the game to programs that are allowed to run, but it didn't help.

I used to have problems hosting Neverwinter Nights 2 games via the router, but fixed it when I setup port forwarding for my router. But in order to setup port forwarding for this game I need to know which ports the game uses.

Do you have any idea what we can try to make TCP/IP playing work?

Game uses

Port 6770
and
Port 6771

Let us know how this proceeded after you opened the ports or how you got it to work :)

I made a static local IP address and used port forwarding in the router for 6770 and 6771 to my local static IP address. Both for TCP and UDP.

I also allowed the Firewall to accept traffic in and out of the ports 6770 and 6771 for TCP and UDP.

So all I need now is for my playing partner to be ready to play against me. I will try it when he's ready. Then we will know if it works or not.

If others want to try playing against me with TCPIP then they could send me a PM with a time they would like to try. Then I will setup the standard game (no mods) and click host to see if the other guy could join. I will post my external IP address to if anyone is interested.

We finally got the time to try and it works now. Hurray! :D

So the trick is to do the following if you try to host behind a router:

1. Setup a static local IP address on your computer. This is setup in the network section of your PC

2. use port forwarding for ports 6770 and 6771 with your static IP address. This is setup in the router

3. Open ports 6770 and 6771 in your firewall. This is setup in your firewall program
