This unit's stats lists a range of 1, but appears to have an actual range of 2 in the game.

You probably want to ask this in the main forum to get the best response.
I think what you are seeing is that defensively, it will fire to provide covering fire for a friendly unit adjacent to it. In that case it will fire two hexes. But offensively, it only fires one - against an immediately adjacent unit. StuG and StuH units work the same way.

It appears to be firing offensively at 2 hexes as well.

I checked the equipment file, the range is still 1, so if you are able to fire it offensively at two hexes there are two possibilities:
1. You are using a modified equipment file.
or:
2. You may have a hero on that Brummbär which gives +1 range.

The case of the hero is very possible, especially if we are talking about the starter CORE for DLC 44. The StuH42 that is provided to the player actually has a +1 range hero already on it, and upgrading this unit to the Brummbar will have this effect.

This just reminded me: How are Umlaute usually replaced in Panzer Corps?
Brummbär -> Brummbar -> Brummbaer?
Seems that it was the 2nd choice this time, but is this also the norm or do we have cases of "ae" for "ä" as well?

Yes, there is a hero with +1 range - sorry about that!
