During the assault a french light infanterie at 3Mu of a wavering austrian infantry charge it and a french dragoon charge an extended line disordered close to the first wavering unit (less than 2mu ).
The extended line decide to fire and succeed the wavering unit broke, the extended line again suceed the CT.
My question now is the french light infantry can charge the extended line at the same time as the dragoon ? this light unit as to pass a CMT?

To be frank during the game we forgot all these questions and we decide that each extended line shoot, one on the dragoon and the other on the light infantry.
Both french unit were with officers and desipte the result of the fire they pass CT and went to the contact.

I think you would need to pass the CMT.

it depends on the outcome move of the wavering Austrians and whether your French troops can catch them in the pursuit. If your target evades and you can catch it you have to follow it and make contact with it.
If your target out runs you then you can switch to a new target within 2 Mu of the assault path.
The rules state that the new target reacts as if it were the original target, but makes no mention of the chargers having any restrictions beyond not catching their target.
Terry want to wade in on this one?

after thinking about it for a while, the new target is treated as if it were the original target of the charge so the CMT would make sense in this case.
