It is still being laid out at the moment. It basically has to be completely redone so is a big job. Then we need to test the printing process and then we'll be ready to take orders. Still hoping for a release before the end of the month but this is the first time we've done this so its a learning curve. A painful learning curve... :)

Still on course for Christmas presents then; that's the main thing :)

Where my family is involved, it could come out in April and still be in time for "Christmas" presents!

Hi guys,

people are progressivly dropping FOG for Art de la Guerre, here in France. Because: first no french version is expected anymore, second, the printable on demand version is not yet available. So my question is: when will it be available?

We've nearly completed the layout. Indexing is the last thing remaining really.

I hope it's a bit better than the Osprey V.1 index, which we villified when the rules were first published, for indexing stuff like photos and images and not important bits of the rules.

It's a thankless task to be honest, but so important if the rules are to be usable.

Spike

PS
Publish it before christmas, I can have it as a prezzie !

The FOGR index is very good though Spike so it shows it can be done. Good to see it's still moving forwards.

Although the Fog R index is good it has some infuriating parts where "alternative" terms are referred to the "correct" term, rather than the page. For example, you can look up "Ally Commander" and find "See Allied Commander", which in that case is directly above. Please don't do that!

We're working on the indexing and page numbering at the moment. We hope to finished tomorrow.

One issues that has come up - the page sizes on iPad are different enough to the POD that the pages count is different. Its not huge but enough to throw people when comparing print to digital. Over the course of the book we're talking about 8 pages.

To work around this issue and allow you to sync up between the two versions we're now going through and adding a reference on every topic heading in the POD version that states the chapter and page number to find this on the iPad.

And can you please add the chapter numbers to the Contents pages in the next update to the iPad version?

Mia culpa for that one and the errors in the index - my fault. I had to make a decision and keep it as consistent as possible to help people look up the definition of the term. Sorry if I overdid it. Given how much the poor FoG:AM v1 index hurt the game I took the decision of too much rather than too little. (And would do so again.)

Layout is complete - we are uploading to the printers to get a test copy to us.... I don't have an ETA on that yet though!

Proof copies are arriving 3rd/4th December. Once these are signed off we'll be ready to manufacture a short run of POD copies which will take 10 days at this time of year (Christmas rush).

Then we ship to the warehouses which takes a few days. Then they ship out to you guys.

This makes the time tight but we expect to have the stock ready to ship before Christmas.

Now we now its all sorted and have a better idea when we will get stock, we are going to start taking pre-orders. We just need to set up the page. Hopefully this will be live this week.

I thought the whole point of POD was that each individual customer could order individual copies from the printer directly....? That's whats happened with all the other rulesets I've ordered that way..

I SUSPECT (and nothing more than that) there will be some economies of scale for Slitherine to ordering in some quantity and they might want to have some to take to shows, so if they receive initial orders for say 150, they might get a better price by ordering 200 copies as a job lot rather than 200 PoD orders. Pure uninformed speculation on my part but where would wargames forums be without a bit of that...
