The pad image as bottom of map in the game

Hello,

I have a question :

Is it possible to view in the game as bottom image the pad image i used in the scenario editor to make my map ?

I explain :
1 - I use a boardgame map scan as a pad image to make my map in the scenario editor,
2 - I just assign to my hex the "terrain" values, i don't assign the graphic tiles values,
3 - I manually modify the tiles's (.PNG) files in the game to have them completely transparent,
4 - When i open this scenario in the game, what i hope is to play with the original graphics from the boardgame map but with hexes informations (and definition) from Panzer Korp.
Unfortunately, what what I obtains is a bottom uniformly black.

My question is : it is a way to view in the game (like in the scenario editor) the pad image as bottom insead of the black one ?

It would be very great for me and with this possibility i can do a lot of graphic mods "ala old boardgames" style.

Thank you in advance for your response and sorry (very sorry) for my poor english...

I'm afraid this isn't possible. As far as I know the pad image is only a help for map design in the editor.

It has no meaning in the game itself.

But instead of making all tiles transparent, you could try to make them look "boardgame-style" according to the graphics from the pad-image. Would be a lot of work I guess, since it is basically a new terrain mod.

However having specific info as text over certain tiles would still be highly problematic.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I thinked so that pad image as no meaning in the game, your answer kill my hope in this way of doing...
But maybe it would be another way : I have tried to make one (unique) huge graphic tile which have exactly the same size (in pixel) that the entire original boardgame's map and i success to positioning it exactly in the right place to cover all the visible map. It seems to work in the scenario editor, but when i try to play this scenario in the game the screen become black when i scroll up and down or right and left.
Another solution is maybe hidden in the earth of the game process : can we replace the black bottom behind the graphic tiles by an imported image (ie in .JPG format, more light then .PNG) ? Only programmers can answer this question.
I'm still going on searching a solution to make this possible, because, as you said, it's a lot of work to redraw all the tiles one by one and to make them to work together graphically.

HI,

I dig up this subject because 3 years passed by since the last answer and I wished to know if the possibility of using an overlay picture (a hand draw map) for the personalized scenarios was possible now or always not ?

With the release of Soviet Corps, I ask myself the question to purchase or not this extension and I have to admit that I am always on the lookout for the possibilities of modding of a wargame before buying it.

I continue to not understand why it is so complicated to offer the possibility of implementing its own hand-drawn maps in a game as that one.
If the game engine support an overlay picture in the game's editor, why wouldn't it not when we play the scenarios ?

Do not make a mistake. I do not try to denigrate the current graphics of the game. I simply sometimes like finding the vintage graphics of the boardgames.

When we see the difference for example, between modded maps (hand-drawn) of "War in Tea East" and those of "War in the West" (not moddable), we wonder why it is not an integrated option into all quality wargames.

The potential of creativity which would allow this option is without limit and would register certainly the game which would allow it to the pantheon of wargames.

Sky will be the limit...

At present, I explored this possibility on "Order Of Battle - Pacifique" and I found trick (although a little complicated) who allows to free from this impossibility.
It is good the proof that it is possible.

Thus, I ask the question to know why developers do not make it ?
Has it be a problem there, that I do not understand with this options ?
We can create mods for the units, even sometimes completely mod the UI...

Then why restricting us for modding maps ?
