Am I asking too much?

If I post a game and I expose the "army name" is it too much to ask that the opponent, since I cannot post a message saying "I am looking for x army opponent" and going the private game way can be "time consuming" that the said opponent would understand I want a historically opponent? Or in the case of a "Civil War or War between the states" that you would draw from the same army's time frame? Yes this is a response to a certain individuals comments in game. I like this game very much. I enjoy meeting others in this game. But I find some gamers who take on games where the "Army name is stated" and don't make the connection to what the opponent is looking for to be, how should I Politically correctly say? That they are "thick between the horns"
And if that said individual wants another game please let me know.

Some people care about fighting historical opponents and others don't. So to some degree you will have to take your chances when you post an open challenge. About the best you can do there is to restrict your opponent to choosing and army from the same supplement as you have used. That at least will usually give you an opponent that is very roughly contemporaneous in time and in geography.

While I also find it very frustrating to get bizarre match-ups to my challenges, I don't think you can blame other players for picking an army that they want to use. Hopefully the new version will allow us to be a bit more specific about the type of game we would like to play.

It can go the other way too though !
I remember when RBS( the creator of FOG TT) played MP alot, he posted how frustrated he was getting every time he posted an open challenge of Early Persians and his opponents ALWAYS brought Early greeks to fight him, assuming he wanted that!
Anyways, as other have said if you dont like random opponent armies, post private challenges.

it should be room for both : historical an non historical but at elast the hoster should have the option to restrict on mention what he wants
furthermore one thing is also "frustrating" :
assume I join several games where the opponents showed the name of the army...
when I go to my "current game", the name of the enemy army is lost so I cannot find what i should choose...
