POA question

Hy,

After rereading the rules and the POA, we were a bit puzzled . As fogam players we assumed that if both sides had a - or a + POA, they would cancel each other and everybody hits at 4-5-6 ( 0 POA ) . But rereading the rules it seems we might have been wrong and that each battlegroup "keeps" it's how POA so if both friendly and ennemy units are at -, one will hit at 5-6 and the other also being each at - POA .

So what is correct

A ) as in FOGAM
B ) as we reread the rules

Regards

Jacques

Hi Jacques

You are correct, PoAs are totalled up and applied for each side, and each sides net PoAs don't cancel out the other sides in FoGA.

The only time this generally comes up in practice is with Cuirassiers v Squares.

ie: Both sides have a -PoA, the cavalry because they are fighting a square and the infantry because they are facing shock cavalry, In FoGA that means (from memory) that both sides would hit on a 4+. (no net PoAs). In FoGN however, each side would hit on a 5+ (they each have a net - PoA).

Cheers
Brett

Never assume a previous FOG rule book has precedent to apply here.

'B' is the correct answer.

So, when the rules say both sides are a '-' during an assault in buildings, is that a final - for each side or just one - to add together with any other POAs?

Does that make sense? (My question, that is.)

Hi Steve

Yes, buildings are a slightly seperate beast to 'normal' rules. Both sides need a 5+ to hit each other in combat.

The building rules are fleshed out and clarified in a FAQ you can find here: http://www.fieldofglory.com/fog_nap
