British India Jungle tiles

Something I noticed and though would be worth a report and you said this forum is for bug reports.

I noticed that several hexes in the british india scenario evaluate as "Jungle" but graphically look like perfectly clear terrain. That caused a lot of trouble for me, like leaving tanks in seemingly open terrain without artillery support only to see them being completely wasted by infantry in close combat the next turn, then checking the hex and seeing the description "Jungle" on the right, without there being a single tree on the entire hex.

I think that is a big issue and should be adressed.

(Otherwise a very very fun scenario though :) )

I had not really noticed this until the last few days. And I do agree; this is the MOST pressing issue for any DLC changes. It is really horrible the way it works. If somebody bought AK stand-alone and did not have the experience to figure out the error, they would be seriously annoyed.

I do understand how the error happened. Some of us lobbied for a better India map during AK beta. But in the press, the map vs. tile changes weren't done perfectly. I appreciate the map changes and understand the error. But for gameplay, this is a REAL pisser.

DLC changes? AK content is separate from Grand Campaign DLC content.

How about "MOST pressing issue for change to any content you can download."

I'm not terribly experienced at the terms of art in this industry. But I think the point is worth acknowledging this was an unfortunate oversight in a great product. I think focusing on word choice instead of the issue that was raised isn't sending a signal that the message is important.

Last weekend I almost lost two experienced Tiger 2 to clear-looking jungle hexes in India. One I carefully parked in what I thought was clear next to some jungle-hex infantry, rolled up some artilley in a truck right behind it so I could start blasting away next turn assuming that in clear terrain I had little to fear from some standard 43 infantry, and then lost 7 out of 13 strength when they attacked me - I was lucky not to be forced to surrender. Another one was caught in what I thought was clear terrain by some 43 HW infantry and spent the rest of the game well behind the lines at 2 strength as I didn't think I could justify enough prestige to restore it (I finsihed with about 2000 prestige so I could have elite reinforced it back to 10, but it was looking a bit close at the time). Luckily I had been reasonably successful in the build up and had enough experienced troops to manage without these two. I admit that after the first one I should have been more careful, but it was still puzzling and annoying. I'd put it as a "please fix it during the next upgrade" rather than "fix it now".

While on the subject of British India, at the end of the scenario I was disappointed that there were no more adventures, even though I'd finished my first campaign at General level! The games's warning about this is disturbingly accurate!

It's been fixed in the new patch. I replayed it as such and it goes so much better!

I liked what you said about:

I felt the same. I wanted to see a monomaniacal third Reich challenge mastery in Asia - drive on from Rangoon to Peking. This is a historical period and geopolitical realm I'm very familiar with and would find amusing. But would the game sell enough to support this "what if" tangent?

Ps, if AK was your first campaign, well then you have lots of amusement by starting back in '39 and going to Moscow, then back to Berlin!

That was my first time playing at General level, but my third time at AK (after two goes at Colonel).

You're right that the DLC 39 - 45 are good. I have just started replaying DLC 39/40 etc at Colonel. I was feeling very incompetent after being soundly thrashed in 44West at Colonel, so I went back to familiar ground to refine my tactics. I wasn't quite bad enough to go back to Panzerschule, but it was getting close. I'm very relieved I am playing for fun not for real.
