To be absolutely clear, do I have to uninstall my current PC version of Grand Strategy (GS 2.00) before installing 2.10?

Yes, that info should really be on the download page or included in a text file with the installer. Or posted in the notice thread in the forum. Am also wondering if you have to uninstall and reinstall the original MH CEAW.

Hi,

Click on the options button. (upper right button, lower right)

Select counters. Beside that is to display the large counters.

Enjoy!

You should uninstall GS v2.0, but you should not have to reinstall the vanilla MH - Ceaw.

We know the installer works well with the MH - Ceaw version where you need a serial number. Soon Slitherine will release a ZIP file where you can just manually move the folders to the right locations (more manual work). This version is for those with a version of CeaW that doesn't work well with the installer.

There are many possibilities out there. Some have GS v1.02 Slitherine version with updates to Ceaw 1.12. Some have the old Matrix version and some have the MH - CeaW version.

It's very important to select the correct install folder when you install GS v2.1 and not use the default folder suggested. So browse to the location where you have the vanilla game installed. E. g. for me it's D:\Slitherine\Commander - Europe At War. GS v2.1 will be installed under that folder and requires some files found in the vanilla game folder structure.

My solution to the game cutting out and not starting was to uninstall everything. I tried uninstalling only 2.00 but because I had already installed 2.10, I could not. So I uninstalled back to no game. I deleted the files on the main Windows program menu and the folder in the Matix games folder. I imagine this is the same if you have a Slitherine install.
Then I reinstalled my old original Commander:Europe at War.
Updated to 1.12
Then I installed 2.10

All works well now. If you have your old game and serial number, this will work.

Hi everyone

I'm running the new 2.10 update on Mac OSX 10.5.8. the Game is still ending in 1945, even if I switch that option off on the start menu. Can anybody help? How can I get the single player to run past 1945? It's killing me ending games prematurely.

Cheers

That is the way v2.00 and v2.10 was designed. Ends on turn 105. The victory conditions are based upon that date.

The work on GS 2.1 is very good, but I have to say that I never seen that sort of mess for a game installation

Slitherine should have realized a zip file with all needed files to be installed manually, and not this crasy install application.

I did a little test, and I have installed the GS 2.1 application in a test directory, to see what files are contained in.
And I saw that the GS application file is missing

If you install the application in the default directory, this directory is (for my version ) automatically
"Military History Commander - Europe at War GOLD"

I saw in a post that Stauffenberg said that you must not choice the default directory to install GS 2.1
But in this case, what directory have to be choiced ?

I saw in a post of Stauffebnberg : you should uninstall GS 2.0. But I did that and some files were missing after installation (GS application files)

Crazy system, and no any information about process  Shoud be better if we could make a little "tutorial" like that :

If you have this exact version Do that (uninstall that or that, and then install GS 2.1 in this, or this directory, etc)

Only that sort of short tutorial would be clear for user.

At this time, I have installed GS 2.1 without uninstall GS 2.0, and it works, but if it is not good, I will have probably pb during campaign game, so I prefer to not began a game. Very dissapointed by that : it has no sens to do hard work in GS 2.1 + great large manuel and not to give a short and exact tutorial for correct installation.

Shouldn't someone put up a sticky post about the GS 3.1 update being available to download, as I had to hunt a bit to find the download link for this?
