The format of the Scottish League will change next year. It will remain as several (at least 4) rounds each a single day with 3 games per day. However
- One round will be FoG-R open period
- One round will be FoG-AM pre-1050
- One round will be FoG-AM post-1050
- Remaining rounds will be FoG-AM open period
Players who compete in all rounds will still be able to drop their worst score from their overall total.

Following the success of the Scottish League in 2011 and 2012 the competition will be held again next year. Unlike previous years the competition rounds will be themed, and will include both FoG-AM and FoG-R. Provisional weekends are
16/17 February (FoG-AM pre-1050AD)
27/28 April (Fog-AM post-1050AD)
21/22 September (FoG-R open)
2/3 November (FoG-AM open)
Each round will be held on either the Saturday or Sunday, to be decided. The venues will include Perth, Harburn (near West Calder) and Glasgow, ie. same venues as this year. We are also investigating the feasibility of a round in Elgin based on likely number of competitors. Views on dates and venues will be sought at the Scottish Open (1/2 December), and also welcomed in advance by email. Final decisions will be taken shortly after the Scottish Open.
Competition details are
· Each round will consist of three games, each lasting a maximum of 2hrs 20min, plus a random 0-10 minutes.
· Maximum army size is 650pts.
· Table size is 5'x3'.
· Scoring is the usual 0-25 system.
· Play will stop at the end of the current bound being played, before the JAP, ie. an equal number of bounds is not guaranteed.
· Amended terrain rules will be used. FoG-R amendments are currently being considered. Amendments for FoG-AM will be
o Each player’s choice is reduced to 2 or 3 optional pieces
o No piece can be bigger than 9MU in any direction
o No double size pieces may be used
o No terrain piece can be placed (prior to adjustment) closer than 3MU’s to any other piece except as listed in the rules on page 140
o If a 5 or 6 is rolled for placing a terrain piece, the distance from the appropriate edge is reduced to 6MU rather than 8MU
· FoG-AM deployment is at 8MU and 12MU inches rather than the usual 10MU and 15MU. FoG-R deployment distances are currently being considered.
· Team entries of up to three competitors will be accepted, competing for the overall team competition. No individual may compete as a member of more than one team during the year.
· Draws will be swiss chess with following restrictions
o Where possible team and family members will not be drawn against each other in any game.
o Where possible members of the same club will not be drawn against each other in the first game of any round.
o Where possible, in the first game of any round, players will not be drawn against anyone they’ve played in a previous Scottish League 2013 event.
· Any published army list may be selected, within theme restrictions, though competitors are encouraged to use different lists in each round.
· A decision on whether to use version1 or 2 of FoG-AM will be taken after the Scottish Open based on views sought at that tournament and any views expressed prior.
· The individual overall title will be decided on the best three results. The team title will be the total of all results.

We will now be organising five rounds. The fifth will be held in Elgin. Dates for all rounds to be confirmed. As a result of the additional round League rules will be amended as follows:
- Team title will be decided based on best four results by the team
- Individual title will still be based on best three results
- Elgin will be an open period FoG-AM competition
