French guard evolution

Looking at the french guard lists I was wondering : why des the middle guard and especially the young guard switch from Light to line infantry ....

SPAIN 1808-1809 :
Middle guard Fusilliers chasseur and YG Tirailleurs-Chasseurs : light
YG Tirailleurs granadiers : LINE
SPAIN 1810-1812 :
YG Tirailleurs-Chasseurs : light
AUSTRIA 1809
Middle guard Fusilliers chasseur and YG Conscript-Chasseurs : light
RUSSIA 1812
Middle Guard Fusiliers : LINE
YG voltigeurs,Tirailleurs chasseurs and Tirailleurs grenadiers : light ( in 1808-1809 the tirailleurs grenadiers are line )
Autumn 1813
YG voltigeurs and Tirailleurs are LINE but are formed in 1811 from Conscript Chasseurs and Conscript-grenadiers
France 1814
same as 1813 ( more or less )
1815
No more light ifantry

The problem is : it becomes very difficulte to base the young guard !

I know the YG knew a very rapid evolution especially after 1812 ...but still I do not always understand the evolution from light infantry to line infantry same for the middle guard fusilliers which begins as light and evolve to line .

By the way and out of the topic and concernig the russian guard jaegers :D :
Sorry - I was looking at the 1813 establishment. The Guard jagers were indeed brigaded together during the 1812 campaign - and therefore should warrant at least a small unit and possibly a large one.

The 1813-1814 list is suspect as well. Since the guard jagers were only 2 Battalions strong by then - they don't deserve to have more than a small unit - and more likely 2 attachments (1 per division
Terry, this is your post ...will there be an official errata for the russian 1812 guard list ?

I've tried creating errata that doesn't include adding additional lines to the actual list. This would definately need a new line entry. I'm looking at the errata for E&E at the moment and will complate the updated one to ToN after that (it's mostly finished).

As I recall it was something the Osprey editor suddenly got keen on -the use of capitals for emphasis. Short of time to respond to them ( invariably whatever it was, it was always " very urgent" ) we tried to concentrate on the more substantial points they put to us .
