The beta versions of both Battle Academy and the Battle Academy Demo version 2.0.6 are now available! This update includes lots of new features as detailed below, as well as the awesome new Invite System. The beta version installs alongside the main game and runs on a beta multiplayer server, so will not interfere with your currently installed version.

The Invite System allows anyone with the full game to invite a friend to play a multiplayer game. The friend can then play using either the full game or the free demo version. It's a great way to introduce people to the multiplayer experience by playing on specially balanced maps against a friend who (one hopes !) will be giving them tips and hints along the way.

Please try out the invite system, and we are happy for you to invite friends into the beta to try it out. Please remember though that this is a beta version, and so be sure to choose friends who won't be turned off from the game by any beta foibles!

We are definitely interested in feedback on both the invite system, explanations and ease of use of the process on the website, and map balance when playing the game. Of course we are also interested in feedback on all areas of the game, especially the new features. Any feedback should be posted in the Open Beta Forum viewforum.php?f=90

The beta versions are open to anyone - even if you don't own Battle Academy you can try out the demo and invite system. Note that the iPad version is only playable by those players in the iPad beta system who will be able to download the versions via Testflight as usual.

Note that for the full version you will need to have a full version of Battle Academy already installed. You should be sure not to install the beta version over your existing install.

Getting this error...re-install doesn't seem to be helping. Any suggestions?

I get the same error message (on a Mac). Re-install does not fix it.

The text box says: "Install CRC Failure. Try reinstalling the game to fix this error."
Is there a log file I can provide to help diagnose?

If you are on the Mac and were part of the Sealion beta, you might need to delete any files that start with _ in the ~/Documents/My Games/BBCBA folder.

Wow - how time flies! The update should be coming very soon - we are just waiting on iPad submissions and getting all our ducks in a row. It will hopefully be the start of next week.

What becomes of the games started with invities. I have a guy I think close to buying game...this may not help!

I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean that you started a demo game and didn't get to finish it? I'm afraid the demo and the main game run on different servers, so you would need to start another game once everything is released.

Just to make sure we are on the same page. I started a game with a buddy in South Africa. Played a couple of turns. When I tried to start the game next, it said a new version would have to be installed. Will I be able to play the fellow in SA after the update if he still has the demo?

You'll need to install the release patch, and he'll need to grab the release demo, and then you'll need to invite him to a new invite game. Hopefully if you are only a couple of turns in it isn't too much of a problem. We would have been out by now, but have been delayed by issues outside our control.
