In the Iraq map there are two hexes with $ in the NE and SW. What are they for? I landed troops on them, i didn't get anything, nothing seemed to happen??

If you take the adjacent city hex, they will yield extra prestige. You need to take the city hex marked by the symbol, not the "$" itself.
