Hi, just prototyping a few counters

Image

Being engraved you can wax the text in for a higher viz

any comments/preferences? anything else required? 2" restricted zone?

My plan was 3 colours , 5 of each in a set

Of those I prefer the rounded-corner rectangle type. Just make sure you're not infringing any Apple patents though!

I'm not sure if 5 of each is enough, I like to keep a Broken marker aside once the BG has left the table to keep count of losses. Maybe I should just try to lose fewer BGs...

The one other marker I've found handy is for "Commander in Combat". Maybe this type would be good for that:

The rectangle ones are 40mm x 20mm - so they neatly fit in a element space in the BG. Which I like.

The other ones are easier on the eye. My quandry is on colour, I like the florescent ones, but there isn't much difference between the yellow and green. The 'regular' colours might be an easier option. Just not so 'zingy'

For me the solid colours work better. I have some measuring devices in the fluorescent urine colour and they tend not to show up too well on the table. Something smaller would be even less obvious.

My first impression:

I'd want something like the darker coloured one, not something clear. That way I would engrave 'disrupted' on one side and 'fragmented' on the other... or alternatively "disrupted this turn" and "disrupted" on each side, and colour coded. That way Mr and Mrs newly disrupted won't be asked 'Can I bolster them this turn?"

That just moves the "discussion" to the next turn, when you have forgotten to turn the counter over. Since your opponent is likely to prefer to use his own counters over yours, and you cannot insist that he does use yours, essentially you are just making a rod for your own back.

I see what you're saying, but I've found that this isn't a problem. You go from one side of the table and as you go you flip 'this turn' ones over. I've often had the 'did this happen this turn' problem crop up, especially in the heat of battle where there are three phases where you can disrupt.

We put a white counter (actually a Go stone) beside any units which receive a disruption marker.
At the end of the turn, remove all the Go stones.

It is simple, and it works.

Yeah, mine is simple too... but with less counters on the table. I hate having anything BUT nice figures and terrain on the table, but realise the neccessity. To my mind the go stones will be an eyes sore

Just use actual stones then. We use white things because they are easy to spot; actual stones tended to get overlooked as they blend in too well.

Did you ever come to a decision about these?

Hi Kevin,

they are in the queue, its just a busy time right now. I have the Mapuche coming out this week and LOA stuff is progressing (ready for Nov)... the bottleneck is me!

thanks
Simon
