just a little question : does hero's bonus(es) applies when the unit have a defense artikkery fire on it ? It's difficult to see with the "L" key

Who are you asking if it effects? Are you asking if it effects the artillery or the attacking unit?

when an INF attacks a unit close protected by arty and takes a shoot does the hero's defense bonus applies for the attacking INF ?

The defense hero should apply anytime the unit is attacked. So when the defending artillery shoots at the INF and when the attacked infantry fights back.

that explain why certain "bonus def" INF are still good for assaulting def positions even when it takes an arty shoot that kill and suppress some steps
