15mm lances

I have some nicely painted knights which are getting a bit freyed at the edges of the lances, bent and broken. I have looked at getting turned brass ones but this is proving a bit difficult (expensive). Has anybody solved this problem and will share the solution?
I want lances that are thicker and tapered rather than Xyston spears.
Cheers

I have some 15 mm Mirliton lances available. They are cast metal and are lightly tapered like the ones shown here:
They are £2.00 for 10 plus postage and you can
order from here

I haven't done this, but would try it if I were to build knights.
1- Get a plastic sprue and elongate it under a candle.
2- with a sharp knife cut it at the appropriate length.
3- with a pin vice drill a 5mm deep hole in the thick end and add a piece of brass wire.
You now have a FAIRLY resilient lance that will not bend. It may break (so be ready to replace it) but will flex rather than break. I've made whip antennae for vehicles in larger scales, so know it works, getting the practice at drawing the melting plastic can take a few tries, but it's cheap and 'you did it yourself'.

I use pins (I hope that is the right word in English). That is what I meant:
For around 1,50€ you can have more than fifty. They are used when sewin. You just have to cut the edge and you have fairly good lances. Indeed you have to pay attention as they prick! (in the other hand, it might be a last resource against your oponent

). They won't bend and will not break. They might get unstuck, but that is a problem you would have with any product.
