A couple things: (1) I noticed that it appears the open beta thread is currently accessible without logging in. Did something change? (2) Maybe we should invite people to manually install the GS 2.1, given how long the installer seems to be taking to get up and running. Wasn't an earlier version of the mod available in this manner before the installer was ready?

I, too, would like to see a general distribution of the latest version of the beta. Right now I'm playing 4 games, but only one of my opponents has the same version that I do, so we get "checksum" errors all the time. This is more than a nuisance. In one game, because my opponent had an earlier version, he was able to take (as Allies) the Spanish tungsten mine without declaring war on Spain. This would not have been possible if he'd had the update.

From a comment that one of the alpha team dropped (Paul?), I think maybe the problem is that distributing the updated program to many people would use too much bandwidth. If so, maybe we can find a work-around for that?
