Some Thoughts on Undrilled Foot

I know I have come very late to the party but these are my thoughts on the whole undrilled foot issue:
I like the rules as they are. If undrilled foot are more difficult to use that just adds to the interest. Drilled foot were historically a lot more deadly (look at what the Romans did to Boudicca despite being outnumbered about 8 to 1).
But we should also consider that undrilled foot do have lots of uses, historically and in the game, just not necessarily as pure battle troops. These include:
Pinning
Rear support
Holding territory
Holding fortifications
Throwing missiles
Softening the enemy up with wild charges
Threatening flanks and rears
Protecting flanks and rear
Weight of numbers and psychological warfare
Reserves
Arrow fodder
If it is felt that the gap is too great against drilled why not just amend the army list point values?

One change I would like to see is bespoke base sizes for 1/72 plastics. They look odd on both 15 and 28 scale.
Also, how likely is it that shock troops would be so keen to charge they would trample on their own comrades?
