Why every and any single effort has to be respected I too wonder whats the purpose behind this ?
I for myself would never consider changing/replacing my Inf incons to such big ones...but thats just me

Some people might like it.
Keep it civil, please.

Well Hitler and the SS did like their most "elite guard" troops to be a minimum of 6 ft. Then of course there was Sepp Dietrich, an exception to the rule. Built like a fireplug and just about as tough.

Obviously proportions in the vanilla game are flawed, so my question remains: Why make things even more extreme ?

It might make icons more vivid for a person with small resolution or often using zoomed out view. Or for someone who loves to see his infantry in its full glory.
By the way, is it just me or does any one else have problems with telling the difference between ARTY STUGs and AT STUGs? I decided to copy African AT STUG icons to the main unit folder, so as to stop mistaking one for another.
