Shouldn't Spotted Units Stay Spotted?

Once I spot a stationary enemy unit (an AT gun, for example) shouldn't it stay visible? My guys know where it is and it's not going anywhere, after all....
It's all abstracted, so its crew (off the top of my head) could have shimmied it around slightly. It's not always possible to keep an exact sighting on something hidden for long after it fires, etc. But fundamentally it would make stationary units too easy to kill.
