v.1.10 towed unit problem (not just the 88)

Hello

I'm (re)playing the Grand Campaign with the new 1.10 version (I originally started my game on patch 1.05 then continued it in 1.10 if that makes any difference).

I'm in October 1941 and the 21 cm towed artillery just appeared. So I tried to upgrade my 17 cm and that's when I noticed that I cannot buy the SdKfz 250/1 transport for 21 cm artillery anymore? It's also not available on 17 cm (although I already have them because I bought the 250/1 under patch 1.05 previously) but it is available on 15 cm and smaller???

I've heard about the bug with the 88 flak not having any transport at all in 1939 and I have downloaded the fixed equipment file in that thread which Rudankort posted.

Is this another bug with towed artillery? I can hardly imagine that it is on purpose that only 15 cm and smaller artillery is allowed to have 250/1 for transport and 17+ cm artillery have to use the new (and worse) SdKfz 7? I suppose I should just try to edit my equipment file or something if this is not done on purpose?

Also all city strings are messed up, but I see that is already a recognized bug in 1.10.

I have to say that although I enjoy the better AI in 1.10 I'm beginning to wish I didn't upgrade from 1.05, it seems like it's just one issue after another with this patch to be honest. :(

If the issues are really so important for you, why not install Panzer Corps again, install 1.05 patch and (re)start a the campaign where you've left with 1.05?
Meanwhile, there will be release a patch that will fix the issues in 1.10.

The little 250 was not historically used as a prime mover for heavy artillery (though the SdKfz 10, from whose chasis the 250 was derived was used to tow light guns). In the absence of the proper SdKfz7 artwork, heavy artillery had to be towed by something, hence got the 250 option. Now that proper artwork is added it makes sense not to provide gun/vehicle combinations which wouldn't have been practical in real life, hence the reasons some guns have a new attribute listing them as heavy and making the 7 the only current option.

Aha. So there is a historical reason for this then and it is (probably) done on purpose. Thank you for clearing that up for me and answering my question.

Yeah it isn't a bug. The only option for the 17cm and above is the sdkfz 7. Imagine my surprise when I upgraded my 15cm to a 17cm and I didn't have a prime mover :)

You can also use the "all eqp" cheat to use any transport.

AFAIK all eqp will allow you to use any *valid* transport - ie I used it to get SdKfz 7s for my 88s in 1939, but it IIRC still won't let you put a 21cm with a 250 - for that you'd have to edit the equipment file.
