How to make other nations purchasable in 1.10?

I changed all of my SE and SS units to countries 40 and 50 in the equipment.pzdat file (and even added them to the Nations.pzdat file), and then added SS (50), Italy (5), Romania (11), Hungary, Bulgaria, etc, to the various campaign.dzdat files in Nation field [0,5,11,13,14,15,26,50] in the DLC, as I don't want to use the SE units but use my SS units as both bonus and purchasable units. I made all of the SS units as bonus units by adding the bonus trait. However when I start a new late-war scenario in the GC the SS units don't show up. In fact SE units show up, which I don't understand. I assume "bonus" units show up in the purchase screen and can be used for both purposes (I thought "nopurchase" in the traits field controlled whether they could be purchased or not)?
I could change the SS units back to Germany (flag 0) again, but I want to be able to purchase Romanian (11), etc, units, when they are available (historically according to my equipment file) and that doesn't seem to be working either. I also noticed that in GC scenarios that had, for example, Romanian units, their unit strength was effected, typically becoming 1 instead of 10. Is there another file that I need to edit to make this work correctly? I spent all weekend redoing my equipment.pzdat file to make it work with what I thought was the new way to include other nations, but apparently I don't understand how it is suppose to work. Is there somewhere else in the forum where someone explains all of the files that need to be edited to add countries to the purchase screen work correctly, like Italy in DAK? I really want to be able to replay the GC with all of the new 1.10 improvements with my equipment file with historically accurate country entry/departure dates, and allowed to purchase and receive as bonus minor axis nation's units, and later SS units, as part of core.
Also, can someone tell me exactly how the SE units work or where to read a post about how they work? How/where are they saved between scenarios (saved game file I assume), and what is important not to edit in the equipment.pzdat file, their ID, short/long name, etc? I had everything working in 1.05 just the way I wanted it when DAK came out, and now I am trying to edit my files to make it work the way I want following new DAK improvements.
One question turned into many. Sorry for whining because my hacks failed. I have to go to Philly for two weeks for work and won't be able to play or mod and I am bummed.
Thanks for a great game, great modding support, great forum, and answering all questions so quickly and accurately. Developers, please don't be discouraged by a few bad comments, there are thousands of us silent lurkers who really, really appreciate all you do to bring history back to life.
Regards,

units are units.
SE is only a name.
Remove the bonus

The "bonus" trait makes units not purchasable and sets them as those special units that you can randomly receive between scenarios in a campaign. I think the random chance is 30% but I may be wrong on that. When awarded they become part of the player's core, do NOT count against the slot limit (so a 10 slot limit could deploy 10 normal units plus a number of SE units), and can only be upgraded from SE lists.
If you want units to be purchasable remove both the "nopurchase" and the "bonus" traits and make sure the available dates are correct, which they should be anyway. If the available dates are correct and they are one of the nations in the campaign.pzdat settings then they will show up as purchases. They will then be purchasable but will not be received as SE units.

To buy other nations' units:
- they are available as active side in the scenario (set in the editor > scn params)
- if you want to have them as aux units the scn needs to have free aux units slots (also in scn params)
(there can be other restrictions I'm not aware of right now)
Unit strength in scenarios can be changed in the editor as well.

For a campaign.
Core units:
Campaign.pzdat + add the nation to the nation list in every scenario (nations tab)+ enter a number in the core unit slot (sides tab)
Multiple nations are seperated by a komma, in this example 0 (Germany) and 5 (Italy) and thus core units can be bought from both nations.
I have not tested yet, but i think it can hold up to 5 nations.
Auxiliary units:
Add the nation to the nation list in every scenario + enter a number in the auxiliary unit slot (sides tab)

Thanks for the replies and advise.
I didn't think about there being a Nations file for every campaign/scenario, just an overall one. I will check on that and see if that fixes my problems.
Bummer if there can only be 5 nations included (but I assume that has to do with limited space on the UI purchase screen). I guess if I want all the eastern European allies available on the eastern front that kills my idea of adding the SS units as there own "nation".
I assume that if you want a unit to be both a bonus and purchasable you have to make two rows in the equipment file? Not a big deal, but it seems sort of redundant when a trait could have handled it?
I think I just figured out my problem with SE units showing up. I bet the SS Mod changed the unit icons to the darker camo, and now AK has overwritten those unit icons with the brighter camo again. So I am probably seeing SS units but they have the SE camo.

1.10 uses a different equipment file.
All of my mods were done using 1.05.
There will be conflicts if you patched to 1.10
I recommend loading my mods thru the GME
I will start (hopefully by tuesday) working on patching my mods up to 1.10 (I'm starting from scratch)

nikivdd, I am not sure I understand your comment about adding a number to the side tab. I thought the side (0) just designated Axis? This is what my Side and Nation fields currently look like in my 1.10 version data\equipment.pzdat file:
Side Nation
0 22
0 0,5,11
0 0,11,13,14,15
0 0,11,13,14,15
0 0,5
0 0,5
This is what my Side and Nation fields currently look like in my DLC\GC39\data\equipment.pzdat file, but I can't buy Slovak units:
Side Nation
0 0,11
Mongo
Thanks. I think I have successfully updated my equipment file to 1.10 version. I decided to take a different route for SE/SS units. My equipment file now contains my own SS units plus my own additions and changes to equipment. I removed the SE units (except for the air units for DAK) as they just seemed redundant. I eventually removed your additional SS units as well (but kept the original ID numbered units so they will still show up appropriately in the scenarios). I did keep your SS camo pattern which is my favorite. I use the DwightsCamoSprayshop to camo some units but I have never found the exact match to yours. I made all my SS units bonus units, but I made them division specific (1.Div LSSAH, etc) with their historical formed dates. I gave each Div their own upgrade path (Inf, Mot Inf, Gren, Gren 43, PzGren, PzIV, Panther) over time using the series field (all LSSAH units are 1SS). I think that part is now working. What isn't working is when I try to play the Grand Campaign, even though I have added the other nations numbers (5,11, etc) to the campaign file, it still won't let me purchase minor axis' units. I was assuming that is because there is no city for them, but I don't follow nikivdd's auxilliary units advice above about sides?

I think next to assigning the nations in the campaign.pzdat file, you also need to assign them in the nations tab in the scenario editor.
You also need to fill in a numeral of core and auxiliary units in their respective slots and the share flag box ticked.

AgentRansack...brilliant tool for looking for simple text entrys or files within entire folders...
In order to make qualified changes to the html files you shoud use Notepadd++ otherwise its a mess

Thanks nikivdd
I figured out what you were saying last night after I posted. You are saying I have to use the editor to modify the scenario file "nations" and "sides" tabs for every single scenario in the entire DLC grand campaign (sounds time consuming but doable). I thought it was all controlled at the campaign level in the campaign file. I don't use the editor much so that is why I didn't understand you at first. Now I do. Thanks for your help.
Chris
Thanks for the info, I will check out that utility.
