Hello everyone;
I will be playing next week and wanted some advice on a new army I am trying out. I will be playing Carolingian Franks with the following list (802 AP):

4x TC's
1x4 Imperial Retainers - CV armoured, superior, drilled, lancer swordsman
2x4 West Frankish Cav - CV, armoured, superior, undrilled, lancer swordsman
4x4 West Frankish Cav - CV, protected, superior, undrilled, lancer swordsman
4x8 Spearmen - HF, protected, average, undrilled, def. spear
1x6 Foot Archers - LF, unprotected, average, undrilled, bow
1x6 Gascon Javelinmen - LF, unprotected, average, undrilled, javelin, light spear
1x4 Gascon Cav - LH, unprotected, average, undrilled, javelins, light spear

My opponent will be playing a Post Roman British army with the following list (802 AP):

1x IC, 2x TC
1x4 Arthurs Companions - CV, armoured, superior, drilled, lancer swordsmen
1x6 Cav - CV, armoured, superior, undrilled, light spear swordsmen
2x4 Cav - CV, protected, superior, undrilled, light spear swordsmen
5x8 Spearmen - HF, protected, average, undrilled, light spear swordsmen
2x8 Spearmen - HF, protected, poor, undrilled, light spear swordsmen
1x4 Light Cav - LH, unprotected, average, undrilled, javelins, light spear
2x6 Archers - LF, unprotected, average, undrilled, bow

This is my first battle using this army and fighting against this opponents army. Any suggestions regarding terrain, deployment, tactics, etc?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

As open a table as possible and smash your armoured lancers en masse into his protected Lt Sp foot. Job done.

I don't think I could have put it better myself.

Hello again...
Phil I wanted to get some clarification from you regarding the "Lancers into the Light Spear Foot" tactic. I was going over the POA's last night and I'm a bit confused as to which POA's apply.

Here is what I came up with: (My Armoured, Superior, Lancer Swordsmen vs his Protected Average Light Spear Swordsmen)
IMPACT POA's
ME: "Other Lancers" +
HIM: "Foot With Light Spear" (Unless charging mounted shock troops) +

So although I get to re-roll 1's it looks like it's even to me.

MELEE POA's
ME: Better Armour (Front Rank) +
So I have a net advantage in Melee.

Am I reading this correctly?

Thanks in advance,
Skip

Hi Skip

I'll try and speak for Phil

Your factors appear okay but don't forget if he loses impact he is testing for losing to lancers. You are also a POA up in melee with some and superior so odds are with you.

If you fail to disrupt him in these 2 rounds you get to break off and try again.

If he disrupts then breaks you get to go through and turn onto his flanks/rear.

The important fact is he is average and your superior.

At impact stick generals with as many lancer Battle groups as you can re-rolls 1 and 2's is good.

As they say should the foot disrupt they'll die should they not you bounce off.

regards
