I've adapted another map for MP... I've gone into BA Multiplayer, then "created a new challenge" using my new map... But this challenge doesn't show in the My Challenges or Accept a Challenge list... What am I doing wrong?

Guessing here, no one else has the map/scenario? Or you mean hotseat?

You put the folder in your Documents Multiplayer folder?

Yep, it's in my local multiplayer folder... When I run BA Multiplayer, I can see it and select it to propose it as an open mp challenge... BA reports that I've created a new challenge... But doesn't show it in either My Challenges or the Accept a Challenge lists...

You have followed this from the manual additions:


MyDocuments>MyGames>BBCBA>User.txt / Add the following

ALLOWMPHOTSEAT 1

How to

Start game
click multiplayer
click my challenges tab
click new challenge at bottom
Select battle, side, type password, click check mark
back to my challenges screen, click accept challenge tab
click the battle that you created (nameofbattle yourname side)
click the accept challenge at the bottom and the check mark popup
type password and click check mark
click my games tab
you should see the new game listed and go from there

Thanks J2D, yep got the allowmphotseat in the bbcba user.txt and it works for other mp games. Is there something intrinsically different with mp map that I've forgotten to do?

The first five steps of your "how to" are fine... But it doesn't show up in the list for step 6... Weird???

I was going to ask if you had all the bottom choices checked but looking at the screen, I don't see any challenges by you either. Wait for Pip I guess.

Thanks J2D, mmm, it's an odd one. I'm sure it will turn out to be something obvious that I've just overlooked, probably specific to telling BA that it's multiplayer... But right now, can't figure it out... Really appreciate your ideas tho! Thanks

MP maps have to have a CAMPAIGN.TXT file listing the scenarios that you want to be able to start. Could that be the issue?

Thanks Pip, Yup, I've got a campaign.txt with the [scenario_name] in it, which matches the .bsf and .bam files in the \scenarios folder for that campaign.

Still can't figure this out. Let me ask the question another way. If I take an existing SP scenario, drop it into BA's \Multiplayer folder, swap the .bsf for my own .bsf that I know works with MP (the Fast_N_Sneaky one), update campaign and scenario info in text.txt... add flags and victory conditions using the VP plug in... I can now select it as a "new challenge" from within BA's MP game engine... But it doesn't show in the MP list...

???

Can you tell me the name of the campaign you expect to see, I will check it out. There are a few things which can cause the game to simply hide the mission, but they are mainly dev things that it would be unlikely you would trigger by accident.

Thanks Pip, Eureka! Doh! Yes, it was something obvious... Just noticed that I was missing an underscore in the campaign folder name... Put that in and everything works a charm... I hate computers!!
